Valknut Construction · What we build

Knockdown rebuilds.
Brisbane & Logan.

Valknut Construction works with Brisbane and Logan homeowners considering a knockdown rebuild. Replacing an existing home can be an option when the current layout, condition or scale no longer suits your goals. The first step is understanding the property and comparing a new build with retaining and renovating the existing home.

Rebuild or retain the existing home?

Start with what you want to achieve and what you value about the property. A new home allows a different design approach, while a major renovation or extension may retain parts of a home you want to keep. The right choice depends on your priorities, property constraints and the work involved.

Do not assume demolition is available or that a new design can be built exactly as imagined. Your designer and relevant consultants assess property-specific constraints and requirements before the project moves ahead. We discuss the information available and what further investigation is needed.

Consider the whole project, not just the new house

A rebuild involves more than constructing the replacement home. Existing structures, demolition coordination, service connections, site preparation, access and the new design all form part of the planning discussion. Clarify which work is included in each proposed scope and who is responsible for it.

Demolition and any hazardous-material assessment need appropriately qualified specialists. We do not assume those services are included in a construction proposal without an agreed scope. Raise known issues with the existing property early so the relevant professionals can advise.

Design for your block and household

Our custom-home service focuses on the proposed design, site and construction requirements. Share the spaces you need, how you use the home and your long-term priorities so the design conversation starts with your household rather than a generic floor plan.

Site conditions, building complexity, selections and supporting work influence the construction scope. An indicative budget helps frame the discussion, but a detailed proposal needs sufficiently developed plans and project information. We do not publish a universal rebuild price or timeframe.

Plan your living arrangements

Consider where you will live while the existing home is removed and the new one is built. Temporary accommodation, storage and moving arrangements are separate practical decisions to include in your own project planning. Programme expectations should be discussed as the scope and requirements become clearer.

Our building journey explains the progression from enquiry towards an agreed construction scope, delivery and handover. Approval requirements and consultant roles depend on the particular property and proposal.

Discuss your rebuild plans

Send your suburb, details of the existing home, proposed plans if available, planning stage, preferred timeframe and indicative budget. Brisbane and Logan are our primary service areas; other locations are considered according to project scope and current capacity.

Not sure what to send? Our guide to preparing a useful brief for your builder explains how to organise your priorities, photos and available plans before getting in touch.
